Cross Team Challenge

I am a contender at the Concept2 Cross team challenge for years now, I have slowly dwindled down through the rankings, but since I picked up training again with this program I can see steady improvement! This one the pacing plan was between 2:02.4 and 2:03.9 but good pacing made me a lot faster :-) Between the reps is a 2:00 rest .The crux in this session is the first rep, don't go out to fast or you will burn in the second and then in the third and fourth. I controlled the first and then waited for the last 500 to really attack the second, pulled some low 1:50's to bring the pace down from 2:03 , at that point I knew it was in the bag :-)

The good old CTC.

I still do it most months myself.

It's a fun way to have a target each each month though it's no training plan I'm itself and, of anything, can get in the way of a dedicated plan.

Very pleased to hear that our training has helped you climb the ranks!

Onwards and upwards.

This months C2ctc. Did this after the 5k strapless so am pretty pleased with the result. Got me into the top boat for team tokyrow. Still lingering down the bottom overall but definitely improving.

Look, high stroke rates! 😉😉

Love it high stroke rates!

Fun looking blast!

You can go faster with a quicker start, but it won't be fun.

    Loose foot straps

Following a strapless 5k I decided to try rowing with loose foot straps. I was encouraged to do this as a training technique years ago when i was in a boat crew and I forgot what difference it makes. There's a huge temptation to strap in your feet as tightly as possible, but it's really not necessary. Just looping the straps loosely over the bridge of your feet - literally just enough to stop you flying backwards off your seat - gives you so much flexibility and power if your technique is right. Does anyone regularly train like this, or has anyone else even tried it?

    Workout Music Playlist

This week as I was ramping up my Week 18 Session 1 workout, I was especially motivated by listening to music by 20th century German composer Paul Hindemith (1895-1963): https://music.amazon.com/albums/B0050FWZQM?ref=dm_sh_61dc-0e53-dmcp-6532-82675&musicTerritory=US&marketplaceId=ATVPDKIKX0DER https://music.amazon.com/albums/B00BQRWWOI?ref=dm_sh_f504-ebd2-dmcp-701e-4699d&musicTerritory=US&marketplaceId=ATVPDKIKX0DER Cheers!
